Sandy Koufax at Camelback Ranch

I love that after the Safe At Home Foundation event at Nokia Theater in LA, Sandy Koufax flew back, yes back!  to Camelback Ranch!

Sandy Koufax at Camelback Ranch.jpg

What a thrill for the young and older (we are starting to have too many of those) players to have Sandy Koufax at the Ranch!

I love this posted by Scott from the Inside The White Sox blog in yesterday’s entry:

We couldn’t top the Dodgers “special coach” for today’s B Game … Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax was in attendance.

Mike:  Koufax was giving away the secrets of the Mets pitching staff.  Just kidding Mike!

My schedule for the weekend, God wiling, is:

Friday at Camelback against the White Sox.  White Sox are the home team.

Saturday at Camelback against the White Sox.  Dodgers are the home team.

Sunday at Tempe against the Cubs.

Monday at Scottsdale against the hated Jints.

If anyone from the blogsphere is at any of these locations, let me know!  I love to meet baseball fans!

Weather forecast for Arizona:

A shower of runs for the Dodgers and just a few scattered hits given up.

Thanks Peter! Wish you were also going to games! We’ll sure share some pictures when I come back!
There is a video about Sandy at Camelback narated by Charlie Steiner. Oh, I wish he will still be at Camelback when we get there.

I’d love to see the Cubs play a spring game. I have never been able to do it. You are lucky. I think that it is pretty cool that Koufax comes back to help the Dodgers out every year. Each year I read about him coming back to spring training it just makes me smile. What a good guy.

  4. crzblue2

Thanks Jeff! I’ll do my best to have fun! We got a very nice jeep for a rental and no speeding tickets this time!
We get to see them tomorrow at Mesa. I never seen them either at Spring Training. Not sure if Koufax is still here. Agh..I should have asked a Dodger Beat writer that I was talking to. Oh well, we got here in plenty of time to watch the game and tomorrow we’ll head there very early.

Emma I will be over there next week. I am so looking forward to it. I wanted to ask you something, did you get any pictures of the Dodgertown Classic game played in Dodger Stadium last weekend. Your blog goes straight from the Nokia event to Camelback. Even if Koufax is not there any longer, at least he was there long enough for you to take a picture of him. That seems good enough.

    Thanks for the info!
A funny thing happened on my way to Dodger Stadium. I stopped at King Taco to get food for my friend that I was meeting at the stadium, for my brother and I. Well, my car would not start after that. So after Triple A got it started, I droved to my mechanic and he tested it right away and said it was the Alternator so I never made it to the Dodgertown Classic game. I figured “no estaba en las cartas” It was not meant to be.
I am having a ball here! Today was a lot of fun even if we lost the game. There will be a post with lots of pictures that my friend will help me upload from her computer ’cause I can’t do it on mine.

I’ve told you once and I’m telling you again just seeing Sandy Koufax in my tv was shocking enough! He was just in the stands watching the Dodger game.. my goodness! It’s good seeing him involved and such 🙂 Out and about i suppose

Well at least in Arizona right now you are not fighting 50 degree temps with wind gusts.
But seriously, you got a great schedule down there.
Hope you clear it and get some extra stuff done too while you are at the Dodgers camp.
Look for Nick Green and his bookbag.
I swear the guy is nearing 30 and still carrys a bookbag like he was a college freshman….But he is a very personable guy.
I hope you have the time of your life this week/weekend.

Good luck traveling everywhere you can Emma.

It seems like a good thing that Kofax was in Camelback.

Hey, Bob Feller went to the Indians practice, and guess what…. A 9-2 win for the Indians.

Who’s to say that the same thing won’t happen to the Dodgers? I hope so just for you Emma.

I really am keeping my fingers crossed in order for you to have fun and be safe.

    Good luck.

Emma, the only secret Sandy could be keeping about our pitching is why they haven’t been arrested for stealing Fred Wilpon’s money yet. LOL
    I hope you’re having fun!!

I remember the story about you watching him on TV! I too get excited watching him on TV so you can imagine how guiddy I was when I went to the event. I’ve looking for him to see if he still here but have not seen him.
Thanks Cliff! I’ll look for Nick Green and his bookbag! Too funny! Someone was yelling to him “Hey Shawn Green’s brother!”
Ted. Oh man! I would love to get to meet Bob Feller. Maybe on my next trip I can catch an Indian game!
Never been to the Jint facility (sounds weird) so I want to check it out! You should come! Golf can wait! I want to learn to play golf. Even though I am old, I want to learn how to golf. I am thinking about taking classes from Pasadena college.
Mike! LMAO!!! Where have you been? Recibiste lo que te mande?

  12. crzblue2

Ahhh Rob! Our Kershaw! I love, love that picture!

Let’s hope they have a game today. It rained last night, very wet outside and it sill raining here in Glendale. We were sitting around waiting for news from the Dodgers but we are getting hungry so we are heading to Mesa and see what happens.

  13. cpompe1

Hope you’re enjoying yourself Emma! Hope the red light cams didn’t get you this time; thanks to you, we’ll keep our eye out for it when we go. I’m sure you heard about Martin’s injury, huh? That’ll be tough for him to be out 4 – 6 weeks. But we’ll get to see AJ Ellis’ catching abilities. It’ll be him doing the bulk of the catching with Ausmus backing him up.

  14. cpompe1

Oh, and my favorite thing from the Koufax/Torre event was when Sandy was teaching our Kersh the curve ball! 🙂

  15. crzblue2

We have been having a great time! Today’s game at Meza got rainout but we ended up going the Ply Ball Arizona useum for Youth. I recomended for kids and adults.
Koufax showing Kersh how to throw the curveball was so cute!
Oh MLBcritic! I don’t know if you got a chance to watch the Safe At Home Foundation event that was televised. I felt more so that that Sandy is just an inspirations to us all.

Doing great here! Just posting and waiting for someone to bring me back a salad for dinner. I’d love to see Mazeroski Matt!
I wished I would have brought my blue raincoat! There was this amazing rainbow. In fact, there were two right next to each other. When I get home I will upload some pictures! I did not hear thunders though.
Have a wonderful trip and be careful Rob! I forgot, are you driving or flying? If driving watch out for the cameras. Tony Jackson told me that the ones with the ground sign, not to worry as they have to served you in person.
