With the Memory of the Dodgers getting no hit in Houston on August 21 still fresh in my mind, I went to the game on Sunday with my little blue broom as the Dodgers were going for the sweep.
The broom and the Dodger hitters did not get a chance as Arrieta was filthy, in the 9th inning, Jake Arrieta struck out Turner, Rollins and Utley to record his first no hitter on Sunday August 30, 2015. Tip of my Dodger hat to Arrieta.
As a consolation prize, monday at noon, I tried to log on to MLB #domino nono link to win a free pizza but no pizza for me. Double no-no.
The game was on ESPN so no Vin Scully on the air to add to his repertoire of called no hitters. Jaime Jarrin added another one to his repertoire. Pepe Yniguez and Fernando Valenzuela were off too as you also get the ESPN game in Spanish
I said in Spanish after the game “Le tocó bailar con la mas fea a Wood” which means “Wood got stuck dancing with the ugliest one” it is a Spanish saying.
The silver lining: The Dodgers did not lose any ground (thanks St Louis!) as the Giants lost to the Cardinals.
The Giants are in town now at Dodger Stadium for a three game series. Peavy against Anderson tonight. Bumgarner against Greinke on Tuesday. Everyone in attendance on Tuesday gets a Justin Turner (El Rojo!) bobblehead. Wednesday it will be Leake against Kershaw.
Let the dance begin!
PS: Only one team in baseball history was no-hit twice in one season and went on to win the World Series, the 1917 White Sox. Who no hit them? The New York Giants.
