Dodger FanFest February 1, 2014
Dodgers are having the FanFest on Saturday February 1, 2014. The autographs this year were available for purchase online for $10 with all proceeds going to benefit the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF).
Tickets went on sale Monday 1/27/14 at 10 AM for Season Ticket Holders and at noon for the rest of the fans. The $10 included two players so the first one I selected was Yasiel Puig with Jaime Jarrin. I was not lucky, by the time I selected those two, they were sold out. I then tried for Orel Hershiser with Justin Sellers but that one was also sold out. I had no luck selecting Nomar Garciaparra with Javy Guerra. The same thing happened when I selected Fernando Valenzuela with Drew Butera.
I DID get autograph tickets for Brian Wilson with Al Ferrera. YAY! and I also got Alex Guerrero with Pepe Yniguez! YAY. But I was dissapointed that I did not get some of the other ones. With how early I logged on, I could not believe that many were already sold out.
Here is the lineup as it was at 1 P.M. pacific time.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition
I just read this week’s Workpress Photo Challenge https://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/24/photo-challenge-juxtaposition/comment-page-4/#comment-300964 and right away I thought of the pictures I took today at Dodger Stadium. The juxtaposition of the elements at Dodger Stadium with tonight’s hockey game.
Hockey game at a Baseball Stadium? Yes! LA The Kings will meet the Anaheim Ducks. The San Gabriel mountains in the background.

Hockey sticks and other merchandise are being sold at Dodger Stadium to commemorate this historical hockey game.
Ride the Train to Dodger Stadium for Hockey Game
I saw this on the Metrolink website at http://www.metrolinktrains.com/news/promotions_detail/title/stadium_series_2014
from the website:
Stadium Series – Kings vs. Ducks
Ride Metrolink from Orange County to Dodger Stadium
The National Hockey League is hosting a special Stadium Series hockey game between the LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks at Dodger Stadium. Metrolink is promoting the use of either Amtrak or Metrolink from Orange County to LA Union Station to attend the game. For Metrolink schedules, click here.
Metro will operate the Stadium Express shuttle with pick up on the Patsaouras Bus Plaza adjacent to the east portal of Union Station. The bus will continue to Dodger Stadium via Sunset Blvd. and Cesar Chavez Avenue. Service will be provided starting 90 minutes before the beginning of the game and will end 45 minutes after the end of the game.
The return trip back to Orange County is only available on Amtrak 796 departing from L.A. Union Station at 10:10 p.m.. For this game only, Amtrak will hold the train up to 45 minutes in the event the game goes into overtime. If you ride Metrolink to L.A. Union Station, you must purchase a separate Amtrak ticket one-way for the return trip from the ticket vending machine. One-way Amtrak tickets start from $12. Visit amtrak.com for more information.
NOTE: Amtrak does not stop at the Metrolink Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs, Buena Park, Orange, Tustin, Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo or San Clemente stations.
Dodger Stadium Express
Metrolink riders can board the Dodger Stadium Express at Bay 3 of the Patsaouras Transit Plaza at Union Station.
- Service leaves L.A. Union Station every 10 minutes, starting 90 minutes before game and operating every 30 minutes during the game.
- You’ll be dropped off inside Dodger Stadium behind Center Field.
- Return service on the Dodger Stadium Express runs until 45 minutes after the final period. For details, click here.
Local Restaurants
For those fans who want to experience a pre-game dinner near Union Station, here is a list of restaurants within a 10-minute walking distance of the station.
SportsNet LA, the Dodgers Sport Network
When the Dodgers announced their new Sport Network, I was wondering why the name did not have the word “Dodgers”
From this LA Times article: http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgersnow/la-sp-dn-dodgers-time-warner-cable-mlb-tv-deal-20140115,0,5374663.story#ixzz2rFhZdVeq
The new SportsNet LA channel will use the Dodgers’ interlocking “LA” logo, team co-owner Todd Boehly said. He said the Dodgers agreed to leave the team name out of a channel name that is similar to TWC’s other local sports network, Time Warner Cable Sportsnet.
“The decision was a Time Warner decision,” Boehly said. “That was something they thought was really valuable to their brand. We have the flexibility to sit down and evolve the name over time.”
Kasten said the Dodgers and TWC plan to air 75 games in Spanish this season — on a separate channel — with the goal of airing all games in Spanish in future seasons.
The Dodgers officially announced yesterday that the new Sport Network for the Dodgers called SportsNet LA will launch on February 25. You can follow the account @sportnetLA

From the Dodgers Press Release:

Weekly Photo Challenge: The Golden Hour
I love this Week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: The Golden Hour. I immediately knew that I would post a picture or pictures of Dodger Stadium. June 28, 2013: Celebrating my birthday at Dodger Stadium
I love it when I can celebrate my birthday at a stadium, especially if it is Dodger Stadium.
Dodgers lost by a large margin on June 28, 2013. The final score was Phillies 16, Dodgers 1. The Phillies had 21 hits to the Dodgers 5. Capuano just plain did not have it. He had pitched excellent in his last two starts with the prior start on three days rest.
Even with the blowout I had a great time at Dodger Stadium. So many friends made it special. It started with Doreen and Cynthia who worked in the dugout and brought me some Red Velvet cake, cupcakes along with napkins, blue planes and forks. Inside the bag was a beautiful birthday card and they also gave me a Dodger birthday button.
Here is Cynthia in this picture from San Diego. Payaso and JD also in the picture.
I got to find a picture of Doreen. I know I have several.
Stan Kasten. I ran into Stan Kasten the day after my birthday and he said “Happy birthday again” lol.
Greeting sign on the big screen:
I took a few pictures. Here I am with the Maestro Jaime Jarrin
Lorena gave me this framed pictured of the two of us at the Jackie Robinson & Pee Wee Reese statue located outside the Brooklyn Cyclones ballpark.
Dodgers posted this on twitter
It is always a pleasure to ran into Sweet Lou at the stadium. He was telling us that his wife finally made him and let him eat plenty of corn bread
Bill Russell was passing by signing for some fans so I asked him for a picture after signing a baseball card for me.
Jim Hill was also going by so I asked him to pose with me for a picture. I don’t think Jim Hill has aged since I started watching him on TV when I was a little girl 😉
I called the skipper, Kevin Kennedy also to pose for a picture. The icing on the cake was the skipper wishing me a happy birthday on the air. Note the Kershaw pillow that I got from Amanda.
Thank you to everyone that make my birthday at Dodger Stadium extra special. A special thanks to Lorena. Thank you kid!
In the last seven years, the Dodgers are 4-3 on my birthday.
For the month of June Dodgers went through a stretch of nine losses in twelve games in June, but they finished with a record of 15-13. They are still in last place but only 3 1/2 games back.
Dodgers start a three game series with Colorado with Clayton Kershaw on the mound. After the three games with Colorado, they will head to San Francisco for three then is on to Arizona.
Go Dodgers!
The Dodgers Sweep the Giants! The Dodgers Sweep the Giants!
The Dodgers Sweep the Giants! The Dodgers Sweep the Giants!
El Maestro Jaime Jarrin mentioned yesterday that the last time the Dodgers swept the Giants was in 2009! April 13, 15, 16. Hmm no game on April 14?
The winning pitchers then were Billingsley 4/13, Broxton on 4/15 and Stults on 4/16.
This homestand the winning pitchers: 6/24, Paco Rodriguez! Anyone remembers this “Nobody says no to Paco” in the movie definitely Maybe? Stephen Fife won the game 6/25 and last night the Golden Boy Clayton Kershaw won his 6th game. It was a long time waiting for #6 but Kershaw finally won to complete the sweep and continue the winning streak at 5.
Now the Phillies are in town for a four game series. It is going to be crazy at Dodger Stadium today with Sandy Koufax bobblehead giveaway.
So off to the stadium I go! for game #43! I have not missed a game this year.
On the mound tonight: Zack Greinke against Pettibone. Let’s Go Dodgers! Let’s Go!
Tomorrow June 28, is my birthday! so an early birthday present for tonight is a W
MLB NL Player of the Week in his first week: Yasiel Puig
Yasiel Puig had an unbelievable week! In his first week in the Majors, he batted .464 (13 for 28), hit four homeruns which included a grand slam, and got 10 RBI in the leadoff spot. Oh and what can we say of that cannon of an arm? It is just incredible! We don’t expect him to do that every week but what a joy to watch this 22 year old Cuban!
Yasiel Puig’s 13 hits through his first seven games are the most for any Dodger player since 1916. Even in the 8-1 Dodger loss to the Braves on Sunday he managed to go 3 for 5 and make another rocket throw from the outfield. I was at the stadium just saying “WOW!” “Amazing!”
The minute the Puig shirts were in the Dodger stores, people were buying them and you could see them everywhere at the stadium. The Puig jersey hit the store on Sunday or at least is when I saw them in the club level store. Puigmania is in full force at Dodger Stadium.
The prior MLB players of the week for both the American League and National League are

Clayton Kershaw, LA

Ross Porter back at Dodger Stadium and Dodgers at Colorado
Ross Porter will be at Dodger Stadium this weekend! I read it on Tom Hoffard column here: http://www.dailybulletin.com/ci_23359256/tom-hoffarth-media-ross-porter-returns-dodger-stadium
From the article:
The 74-year-old has stayed busy on various broadcasting projects and finds himself returning to the stadium today as an employee of Fox Sports West. Executive producer Tom Feuer hired him to call today’s CIF Southern Section Division III title game between Mira Costa and Serra (2 p.m.) as well as the Division II championship between Cypress and Temecula Valley (5 p.m.), both of which will stream on the FoxSportsWest.com Prep Zone online platform

Ross Porter, Vin Scully and Gerry Doggett
I would love it if he would return working for the Dodgers.
In the meantime, the Dodgers are in Colorado after dropping the two games at Anaheim Stadium. I made the trip to Anaheim for the two games. I drove for the first game and took the Metrolink special train the second night. I do recommend taking the train. It is $7 round trip. The train back from the stadium leaves 30 minutes after the last out.
Tonight is El Niño de Oro Clayton Kershaw against Garland. Game at 5:40 p.m. Pacific Time.
WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE: ESCAPE
The WordPress photo Challenge for this week that ends today is Escape. For more information on this week’s photo challenge go here http://dailypost.wordpress.com/category/photo-challenges/
If you know me, you know that my home away from home is Dodger Stadium so for me the word Escape brings to mind being at Dodger Stadium. Nothing makes me happier than to head to my Blue Heaven on Earth, Dodger Stadium or as I like to call it OLOCR, Our Lady of Chavez Ravine so here are some pictures that means my Escape to a happy place
From Opening Day
I like sitting in my seats, watch game, listen with my headphones and keep score.
