Pictures from New York
I had a wonderful time in New York in our Baseball trip. There was five of us in our group, four women and a guy. At Yankee Stadium we ran into friends
Here in the picture, George, Rosie, Lorena & me. Natalie that we run into her in New York and Trinidad.
Everywhere we go, Yankee fans were saying how much they love Mattingly.
I love this picture taken by Jon SooHoo of Mattingly and Mariano Rivera.
Joe from Brooklyn in the white Dodgers shirt with his Brooklyn hat and his umbrella. Also in the picture Turtledip & her boyfriend, Bob Bacon, Serena and her dad Joe, Lorena. If you know anyone else, please ID. We saw Dodger fans walking by and we asked them to be in the picture like the guy with the sombrero.
We visited Jackie Robinson’s grave. At the entrance we met Mr. T who when we asked him where Jackie Robinson’s grave he said “Is a long way up there…I can give you a ride there so we squeeze the five of us plus Mr. T in his Jeep Cherokee.
We lid a candle for the Dodgers at the Cathedral of St Patrick. I bought a St. Christopher’s medallion and a chain for me plus some other souvenirs. I looked for St. Rita’s medallion but they did not have it.
We visited the statue of Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese at the site where the Brooklyn Cyclones play
We went to visit the former site of Ebbets Field.
I had to take a picture with Hilda Chester, the original Dodger fan.
Met a Giant fan that wanted for us to take a picture putting up our dukes.
I became a member of the Hall of Fame museum so I got my ticket free after paying $40 for membership, a $10 discount offered while we there.
We visited Citi Field where the Mets were playing the Cubs.
In the picture is Miss Puiggy who is traveling with me now. She has visited Citi Field, Yankee Stadium and now Petco Park and of course Dodger Stadium is her home stadium.
I was going to include the pictures of San Diego but I’ll wait for more pictures from Sunday and besides I forgot my camera at home but I do have my i-phone. Lorena will share some pictures.
Dodger Road Trip! Cooperstown then Dodgers and Yankee Series
I arrived at 7 a.m. in the Big Apple. I have done plenty of walking and with lack of sleep I just waiting for Lorena to show up so that I can go to the room and rest. Oh, I also forgot the laptop power adapter. I was able to find one at Staples. I do need it as although I am on vacation, I am also on call and will be doing some work from here.
I ran into one of the MLB Big Apples statues for the upcoming MLB All-Star game here in New York. Funny that it happened to be the Red Sox apple I ran into. It is located at the Party City store. I forget exactly where, 33rd street?
Now I want to see where the Dodger apple is located.
Here is a picture I found online of the Dodger apple
Pretty, pretty, pretty.
Tomorrow: Cooperstown. We stay a night and then is back to New York City.
I am waiting waiting for Lorena and Maria who arrived yesterday morning and headed to Atlantic City. Tonight Rosie and her brother George arrive. Yay! Lorena and Maria are here! Bye!
Dodgers April 2013 Schedule
Here is the Dodgers April 2013 schedule courtesy of http://www.thelfp.com/blog/
Thanks to Rene for reminding me that the Dodger games at Baltimore are in April. I had forgotten!
Ahhhh this is so cool! Thanks Mike!
I want to go to Baltimore. I have never been to Camden Yards. I have never been to Baltimore. I think I have been at the airport but that does not count.
For Opening Day, well is a Holiday for me but I have already asked my boss for a vacation day! He did give a hard time as is Fiscal Year-End closing at work but I reminded him I worked two days during the Holiday shutdown. He says that is the reason why he approved it but like I said, he knows Opening Day is MY religious Holiday.
So anyone have any tips for Baltimore?
Update 1/26/13. I got the pocket schedule so here is the star breakdown:
1-Star = 3/29, 4/16, 4/29
2-STar = 4/2, 4/5, 4/6, 4/7, 4/15, 4/26, 4/28
3-Star = 4/3, 4/17, 4/27, 4/30
4-Star = 4/1
Cochitos everywhere at Cincinnati Congratulations to the Reds!
I have not been able to post here in Cincinnati. The connection at the hotel and at the ballpark has been horrible.
We saw lots of cochitos here
Too bad we did not get to say hi to Cochito Cruz, maybe when we get back to Dodger Stadium. I have yet to meet him.
We wont be at Sunday’s game because of the ESPN time change 😦 There was an Octoberfest festival across from the hotel.
Weather here was very cold.
We won one game and we lost one. We saw The Reds clinch here with their win. Next year it will be our turn!
Congratulations to Dusty Baker and the Reds! Good luck in the postseason.
Get Well Dusty!
Good luck Jonathan Broxton in the playoff
HAPPY BITHDAY MATT KEMP!!
Feliz Dia de los Reyes! The Three Kings brought me a present!
Today January 6th, is the day of the Three Kings or the Three Wise Men.
The three kings were late to bring presents to baby Jesus. They finally arrived on January 6th. It is a day well celebrated in Latin America. Instead of believing that Santa Claus brings you presents, kids believe the three Kings bring them.
I got a present in the mail today from the three Kings!
Ok, so it was not the Three Kings that brought me a bottle of Tommy Lasorda wine. It was my friend Sandi who was here in the LA area visiting last week! Thank you Sandi! You shouldn’t have but I love it!!
After I picked up Sandi last week and we had lunch at Portos Bakery, guess where we went?
Here we are at Santa Barbara with Julie who is another Cardinal fan.
Coming back from Santa Barbara, we stopped at Jeff Suppan’s restaurant “Soup’s Grill”. jeff was the nicest person. He even gave us one of his baseball cards that he made specifically for the Grand Opening of his restaurant. Thanks Jeff! You rock! I hope you do sign with a team soon!
Sandi took a ton of pictures from the Rose Parade, the two wine tasting places, Soup’s Grill, the Equestrian Festival, the Griffith Observatory.
Thank you Julie for driving us to Santa Barbara. It was fun hanging with you two in Santa Barbara and Woodland Hills (Jeff’s restaurant & Trader’s Joes (Sandi had never been) Wine was good, company great and I loved Polo’s suggestion of going to the Santa Barbara Shell Fish Co. Is a small world that Polo suggested also to go to Surf Dog for a Dodger Dog. I know about Surf Dog because of Jane Heller.
Thank you Sandi! I loved having you here in LA and I got to go to places that I had not been to even if I am a local here.
Is great to hang with Baseball friends! The Rose Parade theme was just perfect: “Building values, friendships and memories.
visit Jeff’s Suppan restaurant at http://www.soupsgrill.com/ He has a ton of baseball memorabillia.
