28 game hitting streak for Andre Ethier!

Congratulations Andre on your 28 game hitting streak! Ethier is three games away from the Dodgers franchise record of 31 games, set by Willie Davis in 1969. If you are a Dodger fan or a baseball fan you are following the streak on TV, radio, online or by being at Dodger Stadium.

Go Dodgers! Beat the Cubs!

Thank you Ely! Thank you Andre! Happy Birthday Loney!

I am glad I went to the game last night!  After seeing the Dodgers give up 22 runs in two innings, but like my friend Bluetide said “who am I kidding?, I am a junkie!”

Congratulations to Ely for a great performance.  You deserved the win kid but you know it became a team win.

Congratulations to Andre for his second grand-slam of the year!   And his second walk-off this year!

Happy Birthday James Loney!

Loney turns 26 today!

Go Kuroda-san!!

Go Dodgers!!

Off to the stadium soon.  Wish my alergies were better.

Part of the Game Thread from April 21, 2010

I can’t watch or listen to early games since I am at work and by the time I get home is over but I love reading the game threads from the BIg Blue Wrecking Crew forum (I have a linkie to the right) Here is part of the game thread:

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CAN’T ANYBODY PITCH ON THIS DAMNED TEAM?!?

Runs come fast and furious in Cincinnati … let’s give Kuroda a chance to settle down before we declare the season over.

can anyone pitch or play d?!?!? WTF

Argue Joe! Do something! Does the man have any passion at all?! We just got screwed. That’s a judgement call, they can’t just arbitrarily assume where to place the runners.

Nice recovery by Kuroda. Still steamed that Torre can’t go out and argue with the umpires. Lasagna would have burst a carotid artery over that call.

It doesn’t matter much anyway. The way things are going, we’ll need about 12 runs to win this thing.

im thinkin more like 15

manny!!!!! 5-4 good guys

Manny is absolute nails!

Loney isn’t

Well, at least Joe can get emotional about his freaking horse… Nice to know he has passion about something

Career RBI #1800 for Manram!

ANDRE WITH THE CANNON FOR AN ARM!!!

AWOL is warming up.(Bellisario_who’s VISA problem because of a DUI last year caused him to miss Spring Training)

raffy with an rbi triple….. holy crap hes on fire

KEMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 RUN HOMER!!!!!!!!!!

Joe says that’s one of the few things he still gets emotional about. Dammit, I’m pretty emotional about how placidly he manages my team. He acts like he doesn’t give a ****, and manages like the outcome is of no consequence. Meanwhile he’s misting up watching his nag run around in circles.

I’m confused. Is Torre speaking of his pony or his wife? SamAdams, you said he was watching his nag run…! Most guys would be happy to get their nagging wife to run…! Be glad to be so fortunate, Joe…!

Apparently tonight, the discussion has gone from Torre’s pony to beating a dead horse.

AWOL on the mound.

KEMP = MVP…! The only thing that may prevent it is Andre…! Nice problem to have…

I hope you are right and think there’s a reasonable chance but it is hard to forget about Puljos.

I really can’t believe this is the Dodgers. Over the years they’ve usually been a terrific pitching, weak hitting team. I feel like the world is upside down. Kemp is an absolute ANIMAL.

AWOL is still inducing the grounders. The Bowler is back!

Say goodbye to first place Gnats. The Madres just swept ’em.

23 runs in 2 days but only one win. Oh well, we’ll take it.

According to the Dodgers site, Weaver tweaked his back. Torre denied Stoner’s “workload” had any bearing on the injury.

Yeah, I believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Great Pumpkin. Let’s face it, Torre has zero clue on how to handle a bullpen, do a double switch or spell cat. I hope Donny is taking notes and learning what not to do as a manager.

I’ll buy that Weaver’s injury may not be directly related to workload, but what I can’t get over was how stupid it was to bring him into the game. It’s a 7 run lead in the 8th inning, and Monasterios hadn’t pitched in 4 days. I get that he’s a Rule 5 guy, but he’s shown that he’s at least usable (he did get through the last 2 innings with no issue, after Weaver left). Why bring in a guy you count on like Weaver, when it’s a perfect situation to let your Rule 5 guy soak up some innings? Killed me.

Thanks Big Blue Wrecking Crew!

Thank you Dodgers!!

Final score Dodgers 14, Reds 6.

Congratulations Dodgers! On to the NLCS for second year in a row!

WOW!!!

My friends Erik and LTD23 kept texting back and forth on where we should watch the Dodgers game.   We planned this late so we ended up at L.A. Live watching the game at the Yard House!

Wow!   I had confidence in my boys at the beginning of the series and said so in my blog but a sweeeep!  Oh that is so sweeeeet!

padilla.jpgVicente Padilla was outstanding with a brilliant pitching performance!

He pitched seven shutout innings, yielding just four hits, and was never in trouble after escaping a bases-loaded jam in the first inning. He retired 19 of the last 21 batters he faced!

Felicidades Padilla!!  You made your mom so proud!

Padilla’s mom made the trip from Nicaragua to watch his son pitched!

Padilla has been a great pickup by the Dodgers

What can we say about Ethier yesterday who was a single shy of the cycle!   Congratulations Andre!

For all the Ethierholics out there, they have this t-shirt in white or blue at Dodger Stadium

Dodgers outscored the Giants 22-11.

  • Ethier belted his 31st homerun with a man on base for the Dodgers’ first 100 RBI season since J.D. Drew in 2006, the first 30/100 season since Adrian Beltre in 2004 and the first by a Dodgers outfielder since Shawn Green in 2002.

Mike, a fellow season ticket holder was showing us this coin that he received from a General in Iraq  where he has been sending Dodger giveaways and other Dodger memorabillia.

This is one side of the coin: (that is my scorebook)

9/11, Southern Cal Fires updates, Andre Ethier, Giant vs. Dodgers!

On this day 9/11, I want to give a big thanks to all firemen in this great country! to the police department, to the ones that were and are in the military, and to the many people that do volunteer work.    Thank you!!!

Is hard to believe that this happened 8 years ago.

This morning I heard that the fires here in Southern California were 70% contained.  that is great news!   Our firemen  and all the ones that came down here have done an excellent job.   I am glad I got to tell that to a few firemen the other night as I was coming out of Dodger Stadium (there was a small fire outside the stadium).  Their response was “Thank you Ma’m”  “Did the Dodgers win?”  They did win that night!.

Driving on the Foothill freeway you can still see some smoke from the lingering fires.  We are so due for rain here.

A friend sent me this link from Boston.com   They have some incredible pictures here

http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/09/wildfires_in_southern_californ.html

I went to Virginia’s blog  and saw her final list of the N.L. West Cuties!  It reminded me of this photo of Andre.  What do you think Ethierholics?

 Thumbnail image for Ethier.pg

This picture was taken at the Carne Asada event last  this year by my good friend LuvtheDodgers23.  thanks LTD23!

Andre is leading the team in homeruns with 28, Doubles with 39 and is tied with James Loney with 60 walks.

Hiroki Kuroda is on the mound tonight in San Francisco!  He faces Matt Cain.

Good luck Kuroda-san!!

Let’s Go Dodgers! Let’s Go!!

I got a question:   Why do pitchers shag baseballs in the outfield?   I am asking because last week Kershaw hurt his right shoulder during BP going after he hit the scoreboard.   He had to skip his turn and is still up in the air for his next start.   What is the point of them shagging baseballs in the outfield?  Thanks

Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp: Double Trouble

The September issue of the Dodgers Magazine has Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp on the cover with the words: “Double Trouble.”    These two have been the offense of the team.   Here is the picture I took of the magazine:

Ethier and Kemp from mag.jpg

Great job with the picture on the cover and the ones inside the magazine.  It is an outstanding article with interviews from other baseball players and fans about these two!

I know Ethierholics and Happy Kempers will be very happy with this issue!

Andre Ethier  is leading the team in Homeruns with 27 and RBIs with 88.  He also has 36 doubles.

Matt Kemp is right behind Andre in RBIs with 87, he has 23 Homers, 22 doubles and 29 stolen bases.

Both of them are great defensive players covering Bison County and Ethierland.  These are names we fans have tagged to center field and right field.

This is what Manny says in the article about them:  “Both of them have tremendous talent.  Ethier has a lot of power and he is a great fielder.  Matt Kemp is a tremendous player and his power is still developing.”

Local boy Jon Garland makes his debut as a Dodger against his old team the Diamondbacks.  Originally Garland was scheduled to pitch for his old team.  The D’backs will counter with Billy Buckner.  Jon Garland’s grandpa used to have season tickets to the Dodgers!
