I was Thrilled that I was invited to this premiere on Saturday 4/18/09. My friends and I were looking forward to see how the movie about the Dodgers and their fans turned out. We got to see a lot of Tim Marx_the producer and his camera guys at the stadium and also on some road games during all of the 2008 season.
Players Chad Billinsgley who pitched a great game ealier in the day, Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp, James Loney and Andre Ethier attended the event. Also in attendance were Charlie Steiner, Rick Monday, Dr Steinberg, Pepe Yniguez, Josh Rawitch,Dennis Manion and organist Nancy Bea. My friends and I had a picture taken with Matt Kemp. Matt was very friendly talking with all the fans that attended the event. I talked with Andre’s wife asking her how was her baby. She told me her father in law was taking care of the baby. James Loney was running late so we just went inside and took a sit in the front where friends of ours were reserving our seats.
We Loved the movie! We relived the 2008 season, we laughed, cheered and I got chocked up during several parts of the movie We already knew that we were not the only crazy passionate Dodger fans but it was nice to confirm that there are a lot of us around. We applauded at the end and we started a chant “LET’S GO DODGERS!”.
Here is the movie poster that was in display at the premiere
Here is Tim Marx, the producer. You can’t see it too well, but I have Dodger earrings, a baseball bracelet, a silver and Blue LA pin and a Dodger bag that Debie Little sent me in the mail when Grady Little was with the team. She sent me a note with it thanking me for filling out two boxes of ballots for Russell Martin.
Here is Matt Kemp. A fan that always paints his face is in the background. He comes out in the movie saying “this is my church!.” Yeah baby! You got that right! Dodger Stadium is our church!
Erik and I are posing here with one of the Dodger ambassadors. I love that all the male ambassadors were wearing vintange Dodger uniforms. Jordan is wearing Duke Snider’s number.
The following day when my friends and I got to the stadium early for BP, a gentleman asked me where my 70’s outfit was (see my post on the 70’s Fireworks). Well, we started talking to him and then we noticed that he was wearing a tag wtih the last name Ethier. We did not know that we were talking to Andre’s dad! I told him “You were taking care of the baby Saturday night!.” We stayed there for a little while talking to him about the team, players, Andre, road trips and speeding tickets in Arizona (he lives in AZ).
What a busy Saturday! It all started with meeting at 9:am for breakfast at Barragans on Sunset, five minutes away from Dodger Stadium. Here is the restaurant’s breakfast sign outside.
Here is the regular menu and menu special with a Dodger hat we put there.
Here are the dishes we were having: Chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. Bloody Marys are $2.50 and they are good so are the dishes. For those that might not know Chilaquiles is a combo of crispy corn tortillas cooked with eggs, chopped tomatoes, onions and jalapenos serve with sour cream, rice and beans. yum. It was good!
After a hearty breakast we were ready to head to the stadium for photo day. Here is a picture of my friend Erik & I while we waited for the players. I found I heart Dodgers banner a couple of years back at a local antique.
Here is our James Loney! yeah, we sang to him.
I love Manny! He remembered us from Camelback Ranch! He was very friendly with everyone.
I look short (I am 5:7) next to our closer Jonathan Broxton.
Here is Andre! My tilley hat comes out.
Billingsley picked up his 3rd win even though the Rockies were getting him into deep counts. Manny along with Ethier went yard with two homeruns!
The day was topped by watching the Dodger premiere movie “Bluetopia”. Tim Marx did a wonderful job of capturing the fans love for our beloved Dodgers. I laughed, I cheered and got choked up watching it. James Loney, Billingsley, Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Kershaw attended. I’ll say more later about the event. I am glad that I got to go and sit with my friends that I have made because of our love for our Dodgers.
Back in LA after watching all four games in San Diego against my Bums! Bad loss Thursday! Corey Wade lost the game but it was a loss by the whole team. Too many runners left stranded. The team can drive us nuts sometimes with some tough losses but there we are back again watching them and feeding our addiction.
As my friend and I were watching our boys in Blue boarding the bus on their way to the airport to head to Arizona we were saying that if we would have planned it well, we could have taken off to Arizona! Is that insane?
James McDonalds did not fair well on his major league debut in Arizona. He left after 2 1/3 innings. Kuroda has been placed in the 15 day DL with a strained left oblique muscle. Erik Stults has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Saturday. Oy Vey!
Monday will be the home opener! I can’t wait to be back at OLOCR (Our Lady of). The team drive us nuts sometimes with some losses but there we are back again watching them and feeding our addiction.
Between the four different weekends at Camelback Ranch and the 4 days in San Diego, I have been living out of a suitcase. I was reminded at work that I need to make a business trip back East. Maybe if I am lucky, I can combine it with a road trip.
Woohoo! I have been invited to the premiere of the Dodger movie “Bluetopia” on Saturday 4/18. Information about the movie Bluetopia here Bluetopia I met Tim Marx last year while he was filming at Dodger Stadium and also on road games. I can say that he sure was working hard making this film. I am sure it is going to be great!. I can’t wait to watch it!
For the Ethierholics!
For Doguie’s fans:
Rest in peace Nick Adenhart….
