Jay Johnstone

Jay Johnston SABR speaker that Saturday.

Jay Johnston speaking with a Yankees memorabilia in the background.

It was a great event.  Jay Johnstone made us laugh.  He had his book signed available for $20 including a picture of him signed and authenticated.  Funds went to a charity .  I already had his book but I bought another copy.

Andy McCue had a great presentation that day on the history of the Angels and Dodgers when the Angels were the Dodgers tenants at Dodger Stadium.

Rick followed with a presentation of his top baseball movies and also Barry’s top 10.  Also a comparison of actors and the baseball players they were portraying on how close they resembled the players.  After both presentation we only had an additional 30 minutes to view the museum.   I had a great time that day.  I only wished I had more time to spend at the museum.   If you have chance, check it out but it is a private museum.  For more info go to http://www.sportsmuseumla.com/  For more information on SABR go to http://sabr.org/

Dodgers Win NLCS game 3! I Love LA

What a great game by the Dodgers at the Ravine! What a brilliant performance by rookie Hyun-Jin Ryu! Ryu shutout the Cardinals 3-0. He scattered three hits in the seven innings he pitched.

The First Place Dodgers are back in Town after a sweep of Nationals & Blue Jays

I have been so busy lately that I have not updated my blog. I still need to upload the pictures from the Baseball Reliquary Induction Day.  What an AWESOME day that was but first let’s get back to the Dodgers!

WOW!!  They have won six in a row sweeping the Nationals and the Toronto Blue Jays!   They scored 47 runs in those six games while giving up 22 runs.

Crazy Stat:

The Dodgers were 9.5 games back June 22 and in 1st place July 22. Sixth team since 1969 to go from 9.5 back to 1st in 30 days.

They have gone from being in last place on June 22nd to first place by 1.5 games!

In the tradition of Walter O’Malley, Ice Cream for everyone!

The Dodgers arrived at LAX today about 3:45 a.m.  Both Yasiel Puig and Adrian Gonzalez were tweeing when they landed at LAX.    Why do they schedule night  games like that on Getaway day when the team has a game the following day?

Tonight the Dodgers  (53-47)  start the homestand with the Cincinnati Reds (58-44)

Tonight is also Vin Scully bobblehead night!  Naturally, the game is sold out.

Embedded image permalink

Since is Throwback Thursday, the Dodgers posted this picture of a young Vin Scully.

Here how the bobblehead for tonight looks like:

I can’t wait to be back at OLOCR, Our Lady of Chavez Ravine!

The Boys are back in town!  The Boys are back in town!!!!

Go Dodgers!

The matchup:  Latos 9-3 3.53 ERA against Greinke 8-2 3.36 ERA.

The Dodgers Sweep the Giants! The Dodgers Sweep the Giants!

The Dodgers Sweep the Giants!  The Dodgers Sweep the Giants!

El Maestro Jaime Jarrin mentioned yesterday that the last time the Dodgers swept the Giants was in 2009!  April 13, 15, 16.   Hmm no game on April 14?

The winning pitchers  then were Billingsley 4/13, Broxton on 4/15 and Stults on 4/16.

This homestand the  winning pitchers:  6/24, Paco Rodriguez!  Anyone remembers this “Nobody says no to Paco” in the movie definitely Maybe?   Stephen Fife won the game 6/25 and last night the Golden Boy Clayton Kershaw won his 6th game.   It was a long time waiting for #6 but Kershaw finally won to complete the sweep and continue the winning streak at 5.

Now the Phillies are in town for a four game series.  It is going to be crazy at Dodger Stadium today with Sandy Koufax bobblehead giveaway.

Sandy Koufax Bobblehead

So off to the stadium I go!   for game #43!  I have not missed a game this year.

On the mound tonight:  Zack Greinke against Pettibone.  Let’s Go Dodgers! Let’s Go!

Tomorrow June 28, is my birthday!  so an early birthday present for tonight is a W

Fun Times have returned to Dodger Stadium

Oh is so much fun being at Dodger Stadium with Yasiel Puig there. I know we have to be cautious but the last two days have been fun fun fun with Cuban missile Yasiel Puig.

Monday 6/3/13 – I was so looking forward to his debut. He got two hits in the first game and in the 9th inning he used his powerful and accurate right arm to complete a game-ending double play, catching the San Diego Padres off guard in a 2-1 victory at Dodger Stadium. He sent us fans happy.

The catch

and the throw

Tuesday 6/4/13- What did he do for an uncore for this second start? He hit not one but TWO homeruns!  Here is Yasiel Puig showing off his two homerun balls.

We want to see more of these balls and this

How sweet to see Quentin making the last out!  We dd not want to leave the stadium after the game so we hang around watching the highlights on the big screens THEN we exited the stadium.    Fun fun times at Dodger Stadium.  Let the party continue!  Clayton Kershaw on the mound tonight!

Good to see Randy of Let’s Talk Dodgers last night. We saw a heck of a game!

Ross Porter back at Dodger Stadium and Dodgers at Colorado

Ross Porter will be at Dodger Stadium this weekend! I read it on Tom Hoffard column here: http://www.dailybulletin.com/ci_23359256/tom-hoffarth-media-ross-porter-returns-dodger-stadium

From the article:

The 74-year-old has stayed busy on various broadcasting projects and finds himself returning to the stadium today as an employee of Fox Sports West. Executive producer Tom Feuer hired him to call today’s CIF Southern Section Division III title game between Mira Costa and Serra (2 p.m.) as well as the Division II championship between Cypress and Temecula Valley (5 p.m.), both of which will stream on the FoxSportsWest.com Prep Zone online platform

Ross Porter, Vin Scully and Gerry Doggett

I would love it if he would return working for the Dodgers.

In the meantime, the Dodgers are in Colorado after dropping the two games at Anaheim Stadium. I made the trip to Anaheim for the two games. I drove for the first game and took the Metrolink special train the second night. I do recommend taking the train. It is $7 round trip. The train back from the stadium leaves 30 minutes after the last out.

Tonight is El Niño de Oro Clayton Kershaw against Garland. Game at 5:40 p.m. Pacific Time.
