Trio #3 A Dark night, Ice Cream and Tears
From WordPress http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/trio-no-three/
Today you can write about anything, in whatever genre or form, but your post must mention a dark night, your fridge, and tears (of joy or sadness; your call).
The evening is quickly turning into a dark night
watching game seven of the World Series
It is down to the last out for the Royals with a runner on third
Salvador Perez pops out to third baseman Pablo Sandoval in foul territory
And just like that The Giants are World Champions
I think back to the Dodgers season and what could have been….
I cannot watch the celebration so I turn the TV off and head to the fridge
Would a bowl of ice cream make me feel any better?
It does while I am eating it but then the sadness takes over.
The baseball season is really over
A knot builds on my throat and I cannot hold back the tears.
I feel like this tree I pass by in the fall missing its leaves
Haiku’s from game in Colorado
What a wonderful day yesterday with the Dodgers climbing out of the cellar, homer Bailey pitching a no-hitter against the Giants, and the Giants taking over the basement!
Here are some Haiku’s to commemorate yesterday’s performance:
With the Dodgers win
The Blue climbed out of last place
now Giants are last!

The Dodgers Sweep the Giants! The Dodgers Sweep the Giants!
The Dodgers Sweep the Giants! The Dodgers Sweep the Giants!
El Maestro Jaime Jarrin mentioned yesterday that the last time the Dodgers swept the Giants was in 2009! April 13, 15, 16. Hmm no game on April 14?
The winning pitchers then were Billingsley 4/13, Broxton on 4/15 and Stults on 4/16.
This homestand the winning pitchers: 6/24, Paco Rodriguez! Anyone remembers this “Nobody says no to Paco” in the movie definitely Maybe? Stephen Fife won the game 6/25 and last night the Golden Boy Clayton Kershaw won his 6th game. It was a long time waiting for #6 but Kershaw finally won to complete the sweep and continue the winning streak at 5.
Now the Phillies are in town for a four game series. It is going to be crazy at Dodger Stadium today with Sandy Koufax bobblehead giveaway.
So off to the stadium I go! for game #43! I have not missed a game this year.
On the mound tonight: Zack Greinke against Pettibone. Let’s Go Dodgers! Let’s Go!
Tomorrow June 28, is my birthday! so an early birthday present for tonight is a W
Dodgers bats are cold against the Giants. More Haikus
It all went down hill for the Dodgers after the Home Opener. They lost 2 out of three to the hated Giants. Here are a few sudokus I came up with after the loss.
Lincecum pitching
walks seven Dodgers in five
just two unearned runs 😦
One for 14 Ugh!
worst: two for 27
in series with RISP 😦
Bases loaded Yes!
3-4-5 hitters no outs
scored only one run 😦
Seven double plays
by the Giants, Did Blue win?
no, Tim was lucky
Dodgers lose again
Only win game with Kershaw
of three game series
Leaving stadium late
Listening to Dodger Talk
on the long drive home
Today is day off
Dodgers reflect on mistakes
be sharp for weekend!
In Chattanooga
Yasiel Puig will make debut
Lookouts for the kid
Pittsburgh comes to town
Dodgers need to beat Pirates
so wake up those bats!

Fertilizer! My Top Deck row seats are being taken out at Dodger Stadium
So I just got a call from the Dodgers that my Top Deck row seats are being taken out at Dodger Stadium. They say they will move me to a comparable location. Section 1 or 5. Yeah, I need to go to Select A Seat. I don’t think I can take off time at work for my scheduled appointment on Thursday. Maybe Friday but for sure Saturday. I need to see what my friend Lorena is doing. Is she moving? Who else is moving? They are disrupting our Top Deck family! They are expanding the handicap area so we will see how it looks after. NOTE: I like my seats that are in the shade!
World Series: Giants and Tigers oh My!
I am still excited about the World Series! Yeah, even if the Giants are in it. Of course I am rooting for the Detroit Tigers!! No respecting Dodger fan would root for the Giants. Just like I expect no self respecting Giant fan to root for the Dodgers. Go Tigers!! Beat the Halloween team!
A well rested Justin Verlander takes the mound at San Francisco against Barry Zito.
Dodgers will go to Australia in 2014!?
Wow! I got the message from my friend Rosie that the Dodgers might open 2014 in Australia! Start saving those dollars and vacation days.
Jackie Robinson died 40 years ago today.
It was 40 years ago today that our beloved Jackie Robinson passed away. I was reading in the LA Times everything related to baseball. The only non-baseball article I read was the one from Chris Erskine “Golden moment for Wooden in bronze” The bronze statue will be unveiled on Friday at UCLA. Erskine notes some of the other notable sports statues around Southern California. I noticed the Jackie Robinson at UCLA
and at the Pasadena Civic Center where the sculptures of Mack and Jackie Robinson overlook the City Hall building.
Like Erskine says in the article “It’ll be interesting to see what the new Dodger owners do up the hill, though Vinny and Koufax seem like the surest of things.
Remembering how Jackie Robinson decided to retire instead of going to the Giants! Go TIGERS!!
There is a Baseball Game tonight! Nick’s Diner & Homegirl Cafe Reviews
Weird Saturday without any MLB baseball game. I started my Saturday meeting some train friends at Nick’s in Los Angeles close to Dodger Stadium, a little closer to Chinatown. Nick’s was started by a couple of cops in the 40’s. The place is a hole in the wall but the food is good. I had the huge ham and eggs with a big biscuit that came with homemade jam. It was delicious with the home made salsa.
We were there to see our friend Nora who no longer takes the train as she changed jobs some time ago. She is now pregnant and the baby girl is coming very soon. Nora and her husband Sax are Dodger fans so I need to find some Dodger baby stuff for her.
Afterwards my friend Sonya and I walked to Homegirl cafe. I like the food there so maybe next time we will go there. This time we wanted to check out the store. I ended up buying a top and two loaves of bread. One is a chocolate chip wheat bread. I toasted two slices at home and they were divine oozing with the chocolate that made it seem more homemade. My friend bought some pastries and a nice soup mug.
Whenever you are close to Dodger Stadium, check out these two places.
With no MLB baseball on Saturday, I was switching channels when I ran into a Mexican baseball game between Los Algodoneros de Guasave.
against the Tomateros de Culiacan
I have never been south of the border to watch a game. I saw Marlon Byrd of the Cubbies was playing for the Tomateros.
NLDS Game 6
BUT today is Sunday! The NLDS Game 6 starts at 4:30 PM Pacific Time in San Francisco. Let’s hope the Cardinals can wrap it up today beating the Giants.
The Giants will send Vogelsong and the Cardinals will counter with Carpenter.
Let’s go Cardinals beat SF!
In the meantime the Detroit Tigers are waiting and waiting.
Dodger Rubber game at San Pancho. Happy Perfecto Anniversary Sandy Koufax. Crisis! Kershaw scratched
Happy 47th Perfecto Anniversary to Sandy Koufax!
Today September 9, 2012 is the 47th anniversary of Sandy Koufax Perfect game at Dodger Stadium against the Cubs.
Happy anniversary to Sandy and the Dodgers!
Dodger Rubber game at San Pancho
Great win and much needed by the boys in Blue yesterday. I go thru so many emotions with this team from frustration to relief that they tied the series. I called San Francisco Pancho because that is one of the nicknames for the name Francisco. Another nickname is Chico, that is what they used to call my grandfather on my mother’s side. Chico Giants sounds like an oximoron as chico means small. So Rubber game at San Pancho.
Two lefties to the mound: Clayton Kershaw (12-8 2.79) against Barry Zito (10-8, 4.51) I hope Kershaw gets better run support.
OH NO! PANIC! CRISIS! Clayton Kershaw has been scratched!
Does that baseball Rubber ducky stress reliever work????
Good luck Kerhsaw
And good luck Joe Blanton! May the Dodgers give you some runs
OK, like my friend Rosie said, at least is not Kershaw’s arm. Dylan Hernandez just posted that Kershaw is scheduled to pitch at Arizona. I feel a little better.
Let’s Go Blanton! Let’s go Dodgers!
Dodgers at AT&T Park. Praying to the Baseball Gods, Jobu & St. Rita
I am summing the Baseball Gods
And Yobu
so the Dodgers can beat the Giants this weekend. Dodgers need all the help they can get. A prayer to St. Rita too is in order
May the Dodgers bats come alive
May the pitching be superb
May the defense be brilliant
Dodgers beat the Giants!
Josh Beckett for the Dodgers against Tim lincecum.
No Cochito Cruz in the lineup :-(.
Dodger lineup: Mark Ellis 2B, Victorino LF, Gonzalez, 1B, Kemp CF, Ramirez SS, Ethier RF, Kennedy 3B, AJ Ellis C, Josh Beckett P.
Gint Lineup: Pagan CF, Scutaro 2B, Sandoval 3B, Posey 1B, Pence RF, Belt LF, Sanchez C, Crawford SS, Lincecum P.
Roster update: Alex Castellanos has been called from Albuquerque. Calstellanos batted .328 with 17 HR and 52 RBI in 94 games with the Isotopes.
New Game Time on Sept 23. The game time in Cincinnati on Sunday 9/23 has been changed to start at 8.06 p.m. ET to accomodate the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Flipping Fertilizer! Now Rosie and I won’t be able to watch that game. Our flight leaves at 6:51 p.m. that Sunday. Thanks ESPN.
Dodgers return the favor in San Francisco by Sweeping the Giants! Woohoo!
How sweet it is to sweep the Giants!
I was at a memorial for a friend and co-worker that passed away after a long battle with cancer. We honored her by getting together at one of her favorite places to get a bite to eat and a margarita. A large group of us had a nice brunch there. I checked the MLB At Bat twice and I smiled. The rest of the game I heard it on my way home.
Kershaw blanked out the Giants 4-0!
Per Dodger Historian Mark Langill, Last time Dodgers had consecutive road shutouts vs. Giants was 1957 at New York Polo Grounds by Brooklyn’s Don Drysdale (7/1) and Sal Maglie (7/2).
Wish I had that coy of the 1957 year book.
I See you Luis “Cochito” Cruz! Congratulations on extending your hitting streak to 12. Felicidades!
Sweet Sweep so the broom is back!
Dodgers return to Dodger Stadium tied with the Giants for first place!
Also very happy because in soccer, Honduras defeating Spain in the Olympics! What an upset! I was not expecting this!
Honduras now will face Japan.
Cheers to my friend Ms M, a courageous woman with lots of friends. Cheers to the Dodgers for the sweep and cheers for Honduras for the upset win against Spain.
Hi Five Fife! Hanley you are the man! Dodgers Winning at AT&T Park
Listening to Dodger Talk last night reminded me that yeah, Steven Fife and Federowicz were the two players that the Dodgers got in the three team trade where the Dodgers sent Trayvon Robinson to Seattle.
In his major league debut he had to face Halladay. He went six inning winning the game 2-1 but the Dodger bullpen gave it away.
He did great but had to be sent back to the minors.
First game at AT&T Park. Steven Fife against Matt Cain
Scott Elbert went on the DL and Steven Fife was callled back again to face another Perfecto pitcher in Matt Cain. No problem, Fife again rose to the occasion. He had no decision but the Dodgers won the game with Hanley Ramirez hitting his first homerun as a Dodger. The two run homerun came in the 10th against Romo.
Final score Dodgers 5, Giants 3. Rookie Tolleson with the win. Fife got his first major league hit, a double off Matt Cain.
High Five Fife!
2nd Game at At&T Park: Billingsley against Zito.
You are the man Billingsley! Like Jaime Jarrin said “Billingsley ha estado pitchando una jolla de juego” “Billingsley is pitching a jewel of a game”.
Cochito Luis Cruz extended his hitting streak to 11. This is the longest hitting streak for a Dodger this year.
The revenge is sweet in Sports. Dodgers win 10 -0 and now are going for
the sweep tomorrow with Clayton Kershaw
