How sweet it is to sweep the Giants!
I was at a memorial for a friend and co-worker that passed away after a long battle with cancer. We honored her by getting together at one of her favorite places to get a bite to eat and a margarita. A large group of us had a nice brunch there. I checked the MLB At Bat twice and I smiled. The rest of the game I heard it on my way home.
Kershaw blanked out the Giants 4-0!
Per Dodger Historian Mark Langill, Last time Dodgers had consecutive road shutouts vs. Giants was 1957 at New York Polo Grounds by Brooklyn’s Don Drysdale (7/1) and Sal Maglie (7/2).
Wish I had that coy of the 1957 year book.
I See you Luis “Cochito” Cruz! Congratulations on extending your hitting streak to 12. Felicidades!
Sweet Sweep so the broom is back!
Dodgers return to Dodger Stadium tied with the Giants for first place!
Also very happy because in soccer, Honduras defeating Spain in the Olympics! What an upset! I was not expecting this!
Honduras now will face Japan.
Cheers to my friend Ms M, a courageous woman with lots of friends. Cheers to the Dodgers for the sweep and cheers for Honduras for the upset win against Spain.
Clayton Kershaw turns 24 today! Happy birthday Kershaw!
Here is Kershaw with Sandy Koufax this year. I had already posted this picture but I can look at it every day! Picture from Jon SooHoo. Take a look at his blog with his terrific Dodger pictures at http://dodgersphotog.mlblogs.com/ Jon came in at #12 in the February MLB Blog Pro blog but Giant photographer blog came in at #2 so keep going to Jon’s blog on a daily basis and give him credit if you post his pictures.
Today is also Father’s day in Honduras so I dedicate this post to my papito Pedro. He passed away in 2005 on June 29th, a day after my birthday. Miss you dad! Wish I would have spent more time with you. Still remember that day as a 13 year old kid leaving Honduras and crying like a baby when I had to say goodbye to you. Happy times when I went back to Honduras to see you even when you were sick.
portrait of mom and dad. Mom died when I was two, sad I don’t remember her.
I dedicate this song to you papi. “Ese que me dio vida” “That one that gave me life” de Alejandro Saenz.
Here are some lyrics:
Con tu sonrisa de medio lao cuántos te quiero te habras callao.
Con tu eterno cigarrillo Con tu ojera y tu descuido La más bella de las danzas Es tu cojera al caminar….
How many “I love you” you must have quiet down…..With your eternal cigarette, with your dark eye shadows and your carelessness The most beautiful dance is your limp as you walk…
Happy Father’s Day to all that celebrate today and happy birthday to my cousin Mina.
Note: I found my phone. the poor thing slept the night under the car rental at the hotel in Arizona. Good thing it was the night before it rained. Forgot my camera between New Hampshire airport, taxi and hotel. Was found at airport so need to make a trip there to pick it up. When I described the bag (a little Victoria Secret bag) the guy said “Oh yeah, we have it” Crazy trip from CA to AZ for Spring Training games with friends Lorena & Elisa, then flight delayed in Phoenix. 80 of us were making connection flights in Philadelphia. Guy next to me was going to Manchester, England and I to Manchester, NH. The other lady was on her way to Israel. Fun times in AZ and now working here in NH this week.
That was painful getting swept by the Angels. But at least Sunday, I can see some players getting out of their slump like Manny, Raffy and Loney. Now when Kemp, Ethier and the beared one join in, watch out!
This picture was taken by Dodger photographer Jon SooHoo. Thanks Jon for a wonderful shot!
Weaver had to come and bat against Jerred. Jerred in turn came to face Jeff. Originally they were not supposed to face each other but with Monasterios failing to make it passed the 3rd, inning, in came in Jeff Weaver.
Now the Dodgers are on the road to face the Cincinnatti Reds for three and then is off to Boston! Don’t look ahead to the Red Sox boys so play well in Cinci. I’ll see you all in Boston! Go Dodgers!
Honduras faces Chile tomorrow morning at 4:30 AM. Buena suerte Hondurenos!
Three more days till my friends and I head to Boston! I talked to Manny Sunday and told him that I hope he plays well in Boston. He said “Si Dios quiere” “Se lo dejo todo a Dios” “God Willing” “I leave everything to God”

ThinkCure. The Think Blue sign has been replaced with Think Cure, a yearly tradition in preparating for the Think Cure radiothon and Telethon.
There are some cool auction items there like a chance to shag fly balls during BP, meet Vin Scully, have an Italian dinner with Tommy, take a batting lesson with Don Mattingly. a baseball signed by Koufax, lots of players signed jerseys and many more items. Peter Tilden of KABC said 100% of the proceeds go to the the ThinkCure foundation.
World Cup. The world Cup started today! Two tvs were installed in the cafeteria so we could watch the games, especially Mexico against SouthAfrica today. The game ended up in a tied 1-1.
Here are some co-workers after the first game.
Here are my Honduras and USA jerseys:
Honduras plays Chile on Wednesday at 4:30 AM! I’ll be up watching the game before I head to work! or I can go to the restaurant Rincon Chileno. They will open at 4;30 and serve breakfast from Chile and Honduras.
This weekend is also the Dodgers Angels series. Billinsgley goes against Pineiro. Originally this series was supposed to be at Angel Stadium but because of a concert, the Angels asked the Dodgers to switch series so we got the weekend series! At the end the concert with U2 got cancelled.
Saturday and Sunday, the Dodgers are sending rookies. John Ely will face Scott Kazmir on Saturday and on Sunday Carlos Monasterios will face Jerred Weaver.
