Sandy Koufax, A Beautiful sight in Dodger Blue
When the Dodgers posted the first picture of Sandy Koufax suit up in Dodger Blue, I got excited! I had seen him Sunday at Camelback Ranch with a white long sleeve t-shirt and jogging pants. Unfortunately we had to leave Sunday so we did not get to see him Monday all dressed in Dodger Blue. But that is OK, just seeing the pictures, I got super excited. I could not wipe a big smile off my face while I work on President’s Day.
The pictures below are from Dodger photographer Jon SooHoo who does an excellent job. check out all the photos here:

Shimada, the ever young Jim Hill and Sandy Koufax having a good laugh. This last picture is my favorite because Sandy looks happy.
We are smiling and laughing with joy seeing Sandy back wearing Dodger Blue.

Trade Deadline: Welcoming new Dodgers & saying Goodbye to others
July 31 brings many emotions to baseball fans. Anticipations abound along with frustrations, happiness & some sadness. July 31_the Trade Deadline Is a time to say goodbye to some players and to welcome new ones.
For the Dodgers the trades started on Tuesday night July 24, when the Dodgers acquired Hanley Ramirez & Randy choate.

Randy choate
The next trade happened Monday night July 30, when the Dodgers got Brandom League from the Mariners for outfielder Leon Landry and right-hander Logan Bawcom. Dodgers will use League in the seventh & eight inning.
Brandom League
Here is a tweet from @BrandomLeague43: “Excited to join Dodgers!! Can’t wait to meet new teammates, have my OLD throwing partner back, and call LA my home!”
Welcome Brandom League!
Dodgers got Shane Victorino back from the Phillies in exchange for Major League relief pitcher Josh Lindblom, starting pitching prospect Ethan Martin and a player to be named later or cash considerations. Victorino returns to the Dodgers eight years later after he was lost to the Phillies in the Rule 5 draft.
I can’t call Victorino “The Crying Hawaiian” any longer. We Dodger fans go from love/hate back to love relationship.
Jon SooHoo dug out this picture of Shane Victorino from 2004 back at Vero Beach. Thanks Jon!
Jon also ran into other pictures like this of Jonathan Broxton who went to the Reds. Good luck Broxton.
@JoshLindblom made me cry with his tweets.
We will miss you Josh on the Dodger team and your community work in Los Angeles. Thank you, your wife and your Josh Lindblom foundation for your work with the Dream Center.
Good luck to the Dodgers going to other teams and a welcome to all the new Dodgers
So to Recap:
Welcome Good Luck

Welcome to the Dodgers Hanley Ramirez & Randy Choate
Yesterday’s Dodgers loss to the Cardinals was frustrating. After Kershaw was leading 2-0, he ended up giving up 8 runs 😦
BUT this morning I woke up to the news that the Dodgers had acquired Hanley Ramirez and Lefty reliever Randy Choate from the Marlins 🙂
Dodgers sent pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and minor leaguer Scott McCough. Eovaldi had tough luck with the Dodgers. He should have a better record had he gotten some run support. good luck Eovaldi! Pitcher McCough was at Rancho. Good luck McCough.
Welcome to the Dodgers Hanley Ramirez & Randy Choate. Welcome To Our Team!
Hanley will be wearing #13. I heard that he is going to ask Tommy for #2. Don’t even go there Hanley! Keep #13 or go for #99 like the other Ramirez had.
Great! Jon SooHoo just posted a picture of Hanley in his blog http://Dodgerphotog.mlblogs.com
Great job Stan Kasten and the rest of the Dodger owners!

The Giants lost in 12 innings.
Josh Wall made his MLB debut and got the win Sunday.

The video where I got to say “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball!” at Dodger Stadium
Las year during Social Septiember I was watching batting practice when William read a twitter that said “The first person that goes upstairs by the Vin Scully Press box will get to do be on the field to say “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball” He thought it was too late to go upstairs, but I told him if you don’t want to go check I’ll check so I rushed up the stairs. Sure enought I was the first one! so I got to say what Vin Scully says at the beginning of each Dodger game, “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball!”
I had not gotten the video until recently so I uploaded it. 🙂
Thank you to the Dodgers and to William! I love you William 🙂
Here are two pictures from that day that I got thanks to Jon SooHoo. Thank you Jon!
The White Sox with Robin Ventura are at Dodger Stadium starting tomorrow. Kershaw goes to the mound against Sale. Let’s Go Dodgers! It’s Time for Dodger Baseball!
Dodger Road Trip to Seattle. Back in L.A to face Angels.
Lorena, Rosie and I got back to LAX at 11:30. Lorena had parked near by so she had to take a shuttle there. Rosie and I had taken the Flyaway so I gave her a ride home once I picked up my car at Union Station. My alarm at 5 AM came on way to early!
Shower & coffee were not doing their thing of keeping me awake
But I got in to work with window and Sunroof open to keep me awake. It is all worth it though! I had a great time in Seattle!
After the 1-0 no-hitter on Friday the Dodger bats came alive! They score eight runs on Saturday and another eight runs on Sunday for the scores of 8-2 and 8-3. We were fanatically happy with the results!
Congratulations to the Dodgers on an excellent road trip that saw them go 8-2.
Lots and lots of Dodger fans at Safeco Field. I am in this picture from Jon SooHoo.
And here is my friend Lorena in another of Jon SooHoo’s pictures. Sometimes you never know when he is taking a picture
And here is another picture where friends emailed that I was in it
Here is a picture from Jon SooHoo of some of our friends that made the trip. In it Kevin & Dee
I wanted to include more pictures but I have not had a chance to upload my pictures.

Angels in town. Richard versus Capuano tonight on Jaime Jarrin’s Day
UPdate: Roster move: Juan Uribe reinstated and Alex Castellanos sent back to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Dodgers vs the Nationals at Dodger Stadium
Friday night Kershaw went eight strong inning giving up two runs in the 6th from a walk to Werth and a homerun to LaRoche. He just left that pitch too high. Kenley Jansen pitched the 9th but he gave us a scare when Espinosa sent a ball that came within inches of not being foul.
.
Earlier in the day during batting practice, while talking to Rosa and Ronnie by the Dodgers bullpen, a BP ball landed in back of me. I was so happy to get it as it has the 50th anniversary logo
Also during BP, I heard a mom tell her kid that she forgot her phone so she could not take his picture. I offered to take a picture and I would send it to her. I was sitting in the field level during the game. This same kid kept coming down to ask for a baseball between innings. I told him if he wanted he could sit next to me. He went and asked his who gave him permission so I watched the game with him. He brought over his uncle’s Dodger hat to use to catch a baseball since he did not have a glove.
Little john told me he plays baseball and his team is undefeated 14-0. His mom had told me earlier that they were at the game to pay tribute to her dad who was a Dodger fan. Talking with the boy he told me they live up North. I asked if he was a Giant fan and he said yes but that he would not wear any Giant gear cause he did not want to get beat up. Sad. I told him he would not get beat up then I saw a guy with a Giant jacket and later a lady with a Giant shirt. I said “see, they are wearing Giant gear”
.
When I was seeing that he was not going to get a third out ball, I suggested to try at the end of the games with the umpires but to move a couple seats over the next aisle. He was only a few feets from me and I was keeping an eye on him. Well his mom comes down and she panicked not seeing him there, she said “WHERE IS MY SON?” I pointed to him (we were in the same row) and said that he had a better chance there to get a ball from the umps. Well, too many kids were in the dugout seat area so he did not get a ball. I reached in my bag for the batting practice ball I had gotten and gave it to him. He and his family thanked me. they did stay for the fireworks as they had an early flight back home.
I took a picture of little John with Hiccups payaso.
I had to ask little John his favorite players. For the Giants: Buster Posey and for the Dodgers: Matt Kemp.
.
Looking at Jon SooHoo pictures blogs, I noticed he included a picture he took as he was going by during batting practice! I was sitting with June. Thanks Jon!
And here is another one. I think this is when I was going to take a picture of little John.
It was also Fireworks night. Here is another picture from Jon SooHoo.

OK, got to get ready to head to Dodger Stadium! Strasburg against Billingsley. Also Bryce Harper will make his major league debut at Dodger Stadium. Both the Dodgers and Nationals have identical records of 14-6. Let’s go Dodgers!
Opening Week 2012 at Dodger Stadium
Opening Day was a beautiful day. As is my tradition every year, Nancy Bea Cd played in the background while I got ready to go to Dodger Stadium. I drove to Union Station and hopped on the shuttle from there. My brother Vic and took the first shuttle at 9:45 AM. We got to Dodger Stadium at 10 AM. Game time was 1:10 PM. I heard of other people driving or taking the shuttle late and it took them an hour to get there from downtown. While waiting for the shuttle I heard about Vin Scully not being able to make it to the stadium.
Get well Vin Scully! We Love you!!
I had seen Vin Scully in San Diego and he looked good there but those colds cn sneak up on you. When I ran into him I told him “Good to see you Vin!” He looked back, smiled and said “Good to see you too!” I did not want to bother him so I did not ask for autograph or a picture. He responding to me was good enough for me.
Back to Opening Day! I took out my brand new scorebook and started keeping score. One thing I don’t like about it, is it does not have the little squares to keep track of balls and strikes but I sneak them in there. My outfit for Opening Day was one that I wore in San Diego -The Magic Johnson yellow shirt with my #32 Sandy Koufax white jersey over it. They both wore #32. The only thing with the shirt is that is the same color as the Pirates.
Picture from the LA Times. Nice man to my right with the grey Clayton Kershaw jersey. He liked that I was keeping score. He wrote the name of my blog.
Dodger Stadium celebrating 50 years on its inagural day of April 10, 1962 had members of that year being honored. It would have been great for Vin Scully to introduce them as Opening Day has been the only day that Vin Scully addresses the crowd at the stadium. Pic by Jon SooHoo.
The Beach Boys , also celebrating 50 years, sang one song and the National Anthem. Pic by Jon SooHoo
Our lefty Clayton Kershaw went seven strong innings. He left with no decision. @Skinnyswag_ Dee Gordon continues making the games excting. I love this team! Pic by Jon SooHoo
Andre Ethier in his 30th birthday hit a homerun to right field! in the 8th. Kenley Jansen pitched the 8th and Javy in the 9th for the save! Did I say that I love this team? Pic byLa Times.
Dodgers celebrating the win on Opening Day!
Chad Billingsley pitched the second game. He had another great game and another win.
Dodgers going for the sweep tonight 30% chance of rain with those chances increasing into the night BUT It can’t rain. It never rains in Calfiornia. haha. Just in case, I got my raincoat. Go Dodgers!

Tommy Lasorda giving hitting instructions at Spring Training
Here is a short video I shot of Tommy Lasorda dressed in his batting practice jersey giving instructions to the minor leaguers on how to hit. 🙂 “You got an ax in your hand” “you are chopping the tree down” “como esta la republica?”

Tommy is so funny

Six Women and a Men Went to Camelback Ranch to see the Dodgers in a Dodger Blue Minivan
When Lorena and I found out that there was going to be a Spring Traning Fanfest 3/3/12, we said “Let’s go!” Rosie, who we met on Twitter last year said “I want to go!” The original plan was to go for the day. We already had a Spring Training road trip planned for the St Patrick weekend so we thought a turnaround trip would be OK.
On Saturday 2/25 I get a text from Lorena that Amanda was joining. A few days later Lorena tells us her friend Priscila is also joining us. Our group had grown to FIVE.
After thinking it over, we thought the original plan was kinda crazy to drive from LA to AZ and come back the same night so we changed it stay Saturday night.
The buz at Camelback Ranch the day before we were to leave was that Sandy Koufax was there! Dodger fans were giddy with excitment.
Kershaw, Sandy Koufax and Don Mattingly. Picture taken by Jon SooHoo.
Because of Sandy Koufax was at Camelback Ranch, our group grew to seven a few hours before we were scheduled to take off. Needless to say some of us hardly got any sleep or none at all.
The minivan arrived at my house about 2 AM. A few minutes later Rosie was dropped off at my house. Because of a mixup, Rosie did not bring anything but her purse. She thought we had changed back to making the trip a turnaround trip. She wanted to stay but we said “There is a Target, close by…. ” So off we went six women and a men in a Blue Minivan.
Here is Rene practicing hitchhiking just in case we left them behind. The perfect place would have been here
We arrived safely and it was off to taking pictures. The first one I took was with Gaylord Perry
The second one was with Javy!
Here is Rene and I talking with Jon SooHoo
This picture taken by Dodger main photographer Jon SooHoo, appeared in the Dodgers Photo Gallery. Thanks Jon! . Check out his MLB blog at http://dodgersphotog.mlblogs.com
With Manny Mota on his bicycle
Plenty of pictures were taking especially at Sattle Ranch where 3 of the group rode the mechanical bull but I’ll leave the pictures for another post or maybe I should check with the group if is OK to post.
I had a wonderful time on this trip. Can’t wait to be back at Camelback Ranch for St Patrick weekend. The only thing is I won’t be able to watch the game on Sunday as I am scheduled to work in NH the following week so I am taking a flight at noon.
