Trio #3 A Dark night, Ice Cream and Tears

From WordPress http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/trio-no-three/

Today you can write about anything, in whatever genre or form, but your post must mention a dark night, your fridge, and tears (of joy or sadness; your call).

The evening is quickly turning into a dark night

watching game seven of the World Series

It is down to the last out for the Royals with a runner on third

Salvador Perez pops out to third baseman Pablo Sandoval in foul territory

And just like that The Giants are World Champions

I think back to the Dodgers season and what could have been….

I cannot watch the celebration so I turn the TV off  and head to the fridge

Would a bowl of ice cream make me feel any better?

It does while I am eating it but then the sadness takes over.

The baseball season is really over

A knot builds on my throat and I cannot hold back the tears.

I feel like this tree I pass by in the fall missing its leaves

Tree fall

Game Tankas 09/02/14 Dodgers 4, Nationals 1

I have done haikus in the past but did not know about Tankas.  Haikus are a three-line poem of 5/7/5 syllables.   Tankas have two additional lines of 7 syllables so they are 5/7/5/7/7.   I was reading the WordPress Monday writing challenge for this week to write a tanka or a set of tankas https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_writing_challenge/full-tanka/

Here it is what I came up with during Clayton Kershaw masterpiece performance yesterday at Dodger Dodger Stadium.
WASHINGTON NATIONALS AT LOS ANGELES DODGERS

Kershaw on the mound
Pederson playing center
Good omen this night
First Major League hit for Joc
A single in the second!

WASHINGTON NATIONALS AT LOS ANGELES DODGERS

The crowd is roaring
Kershaw wheeling and dealing
Cy Young performance
reached 200 K’s tonight
5th straight time in his career

Kershaw can hit too
With a single in the fifth
Daring base running
after a single by Dee
broke open the scoreless game

WASHINGTON NATIONALS AT LOS ANGELES DODGERS

Home-run Uribe!
With Crawford on base Woo-Hoo!
score four to zero
but in the fifth Bryce homered
Only run Kershaw allowed

Kershaw 8 innings
3 hits, 1 earned run allowed
2 walks, 8 strikeouts
Kershaw wins his 17
ERA 1.7

Weekly Photo Challenge: Object

This week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is Object.  http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/31/photo-challenge-object/  From the link:

In this week’s challenge, I’d like you to use one tangible object as both your inspiration and subject. It can be the obvious focal point of your shot — like my husband’s juggling ball above, snapped on a beach on the north shore of Kauai. Or you can get creative and find other ways to feature your object — the only requirement is it must be somewhere in your frame.

This week, in a post created specifically for this challenge, share a photo of one object.

On this day January 31, my object photo inspiration is this nine foot tall bust of Jackie Robinson outside the Pasadena City Hall.

Jackie

Jackie Robinson would have been 95 today.  Someone asked me why on the Eve of Superbowl, why I am wearing a Dodger baseball jersey.  I told this person I am commemorating the birthday of Jackie Robinson, a hero and an inspiration to us all.   Jackie Robinson paved the way for a change in American society that has continued since his debut at Ebbett’s Field on April 15th 1947.

Happy Birthday Jackie!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition

I just read this week’s Workpress Photo Challenge https://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/24/photo-challenge-juxtaposition/comment-page-4/#comment-300964 and right away I thought of the pictures I took today at Dodger Stadium. The juxtaposition of the elements at Dodger Stadium with tonight’s hockey game.

Hockey game at a Baseball Stadium?   Yes!  LA The Kings will meet the Anaheim Ducks.  The San Gabriel mountains in the background.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Window

I want to get back to doing the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge.  I am going to pick it up from last week because I took a picture specifically for the challenge but did not have time to upload it.    Here is information and  the link to WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge:  Window http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/10/photo-challenge-window/

I love the picture in there.  I open up the link and went “Oh Wow!”  It looks like a completely different world from what you have inside.  My photo is a little different.  It is at work where I took off my glasses and was taking different pictures, but decided on this one

window 1

I would have missed this picture if it wasn’t because of the Photo Challenge.  I removed my glasses to take the picture with my iphone.  I like the sunset in the background with the bare trees.  It is a little dark but a car was going by.

this one taken also at work.

This flower blooms in January.  I don’t remember the name of it.  It looks like a orchids but they are not.   You can see the reflection of people working

Weekly Photo Challenge: The Golden Hour

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE: ESCAPE

The WordPress photo Challenge for this week that ends today is Escape.  For more information on this week’s photo challenge go here http://dailypost.wordpress.com/category/photo-challenges/

If you know me, you know that my home away from home is Dodger Stadium so for me the word Escape brings to mind being at Dodger Stadium.   Nothing makes me happier than to head to my Blue Heaven on Earth, Dodger Stadium or as I like to call it OLOCR, Our Lady of Chavez Ravine so here are some pictures that means my Escape to a happy place

From Opening Day

I like sitting in my seats, watch game, listen with my headphones and keep score.

My view as I exit the stadium

Weekly Photo Challenge: Pattern

This week’s Photo Challenge is Pattern http://dailypost.wordpress.com/category/photo-challenges/ I was looking around Dodger Stadium to see what I could use for the subject “Pattern”  Reviewing the Dodger photographer’s photos I came upon what I could use so before the game I took some pictures with my Iphone.

By the clubhouse entrance there are many Dodger yearbooks and Dodger programs framed forming a nice pattern.   I could have taken just one picture of the whole thing but it would have been too small so I took seeveral.

Here is the collection:

I wish I had some of those programs

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE: FROM ABOVE

The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge for this week is “From Above” http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/05/03/weekly-photo-challenge-from-above/#comments    A picture taken from above.

With the theme in mind I reviewed some of my pictures.  I found this one that I took from above, the  last row of the Top Deck (the last level) of Dodger Stadium.

Kemp on 9162012

From above to below the field, Matt Kemp at the plate on a Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium.  Note the  shadows, the location of the ball as it makes a hole on his shadow, the umpire in position and the catcher ready to catch the ball.

That game was Sunday,  September 9, 2012.  Dodgers lost the game against the Cardinals in 12 inning with the score of 5-2.  Kemp went 1 for 5 with a groundball in the first inning, a strikeout in the 3rd, a double in the 6th, a strikeout in the 8th and in the 10th inning with the bases full and two outs, Kemp flied out out to center field.

Here is a recent panoramic picture I took from my seats in the Top Deck

It is a long way down but I like the view from above.  I see the game, I see the mountains, I get a panoramic view of the game.

Today Tuesday,  May 7, 2013,  the Dodgers find themselves way below in last place in their division.  They need to crawl out and rise above.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Culture

I am late to the party like always!  But I still wanted to do the Weekly Photo Challenge on Culture. http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/04/26/photo-challenge-culture/

I like the diversity of cultures in Los Angeles so with that in mind I am posting these pictures:
