Dodgers Reel in the Marlins

Dodgers reel in the Marlins with Clayton Kershaw on the mound today on an early game on Getaway day.  I am so glad that for a change the Dodgers played early today as the schedule has not been nice to them on getaway days.

Kershaw pitched eight scoreless innings striking out six.  Kershaw improved his record to 13-7 and lowered his ERA to 1.72!  Kershaw also lined a single to left field to bring in Yasiel Puig for the first run.

El barbudo de Brian Wilson made his Dodger debut in the ninth inning.

Funny picture from Mike Scioscia Tragic Illness blog.     I like the barba Azul.

With the Dodgers win and the D’Backs loss, the Dodgers magic number is

Among the Dodgers that have worn #27 are Pete Reiser, Clyde King, Carl Furillo, Gene Mauch, Tommy Lasorda, Bob Borkoswki, Don Demeter, Jim Gentile, Mike Sharperson, Kevin Brown, Jose Lima, James Loney, Matt Kemp.

The boys should be getting home later on tonight to start the three game series with the Red Sox.  The Red Sox did not play today.  Tomorrow’s matchup is Lackey against Ricky Nolasko.

Here’s to you Dodgers!  See you at OLOCR (Our Lady of Chavez Ravine)!!!

Reggie Smith will throw out a ceremonial first pitch on Friday.

Dodgers Haikus for Good Luck.

Dodgers losing streak
is at gulp… seven, really??
Let’s stop it tonight!

Are the Dodgers cursed?
If so let’s reverse
and work toward first

Marlins are in town
their record 10-25
Time to beat them down

Magill on the mound
Fernandez for the Marlins
Bums don’t make us frown

Dodgers we beg you
Please start your winnings tonight
We are feeling Blue

I want to hear cheers
Want to hear I LOVE LA
Want to celebrate

tonight be the night
to stop Dodgers losing streak
and start winning feast

But really, is there some kind of curse on the Dodgers? Did it start when Manny Mota stopped being part of the coaching staff? no matter, I hope it stops tonight!

Go Dodgers!

Herrera has been optioned back to the minors and Van Slyke is back!  Van Slyke was crushing the Pacific Coast League with a .397 batting average, 9 Homeruns.

Dodgers lineup:

Crawford, LF
Punto 3B
Gonzalez, I B   YAY!  He is back!
Kemp CF
Ethier RF
Ellis C
Schumaker 2B
Gordon SS
Magill P

Marlins lineup:
Pierre LF
Hechavarria Ss
Polanco 3B
Ruggiano CF
Dobbs 1
Ozuna RF
Dietrich 2B
Brantly C
Fernandez P

Adrian Gonzalez, Crawford, Beckett, Punto could be Dodgers! Oh My!

My head is spinning with all the trade rumors and Dodgers moves.

I used to love seeing Adrian Gonzalez in San Diego and was sad to see him go to the Red Sox even if he hit well against the Dodgers.

My twitter account was going crazy with:

The Dodgers were awarded a claim on Adrian Gonzales

Adrian has a limited no trade clause but can’t block a move to the Dodgers

Dodgers claim Beckett

Red Sox working on deal that would send AGon, Crawford, Beckett and Punto to LA

Dodgers recalled outfielder/infielder Alex Castellano adn optioned Rubby De La Rose to AAA.

How did the entire NL pass on claiming Rubby???

De La Rosa claimed by Bluejays.  Sent down would be a PTBNL in RedSox deal

From GordonEdes:  Dodgers discussed in Red Sox deal:  De La Rosa, Loney, De Jesus, Sands and another top prospect.

From Jaime Jarrin:  David Gonzalez, father of Adrian Gonzalez is happy of the possibility of having AGon back in California if Dodgers and Red Sox come to an agreement.

In the meantime the Marlins are in town.  Ex-Dodger Eovaldi on the mound against Barbarroja Chad Billingsley.

time to get ready to head to the Ravine.  My phone has been going crazy today!   It will be hard not to pick it up while I drive to the stadium as it keeps notifying me of more news.

Update:  James Loney scratched from the original lineup.

Welcome to the Dodgers Hanley Ramirez & Randy Choate

Yesterday’s Dodgers loss to the Cardinals was frustrating.  After Kershaw was leading 2-0, he ended up giving up 8 runs 😦

BUT this morning I woke up to the news that the Dodgers had acquired Hanley Ramirez and Lefty reliever Randy Choate from the Marlins  🙂

Dodgers sent pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and minor leaguer Scott McCough.  Eovaldi had tough luck with the Dodgers.  He should have a better record had he gotten some run support.  good luck Eovaldi!  Pitcher McCough was at Rancho.   Good luck McCough.

Welcome to the Dodgers Hanley Ramirez & Randy Choate.  Welcome To Our Team!

Hanley will be wearing #13.  I heard that he is going to ask Tommy for #2.   Don’t even go there Hanley!   Keep #13 or go for #99 like the other Ramirez had.

Great! Jon SooHoo just posted a picture of Hanley in his blog http://Dodgerphotog.mlblogs.com

Great job Stan Kasten and the rest of the Dodger owners!

Now, let’s start another winning streak.  Harang is on the mound against Lohse.

Giants are losing to the Padres 5-1 in the 5th!  8th!  YAY!

From Marlins to Road Trip with a Baby to Cardinals

The Dodgers salvaged one game from the three game series with the Marlins and now we start a four game series with St. Louis.

Saturday night, our closer Jonathan Broxton picked up his 7th win!  Broxton has the 3rd most wins in the Team!   Casey Blake delivered a single in the 9th inning to give the Dodgers their 10th walkoff this year!!.  The team had 8 last year

Sunday, Jason Schmidt did not fair well.  an error by Furcal did not help and Weaver did not have it.   I was so rooting for Schmidt to do better.  I believe that Joe Torre will give Schmidt one more start and if he does not do well, that will be it for Schmidt.

Sunday when I got to my seat, there was a nice couple holding a baby and being interviewed by a local TV station next to my seats.   I told them to stay there as I jumped over and gave them room for their interview.  I was curious when I saw their baby girl with a pink bib and pink hat reading “30 ballparks and a baby.”  Baby Sophia is so adorable!!  as you can see in the picture below.

I missed getting Judy.  Isn’t baby Sofia adorable?

Look at baby Sofia’s bracelets.

You can check their website at www.30ballparksandababy.com.  Buena suerte Judy, Roberto and Sofia!  It was a big pleasure meeting the three of you.  God bless you and keep the three of you safe!

My Dodgers are at St Louis for a four game series.  I was in St Louis a few years back when the Dodgers lost all four games BUT this is a much improved team so Go Dodgers!

I am going to check if any of my good friends that are big Cardinal fans in this picture are going to any of the games.  I know Linda and I wish we were back in St Louis this week so that we can improve on that 0-4 record.

DFW 003.jpg

I just found out my friend Amy from ITD  will be going to tomorrow’s game.

Let’s go Dodgers, Let’s go!!

We Took 2 out of 3 from the Phillies! Next: The Marlins!

We took 2 out of 3 from the Defending World Champions Phillies!

I was worry about the trip to Philadelphia. How would my Dodgers do? Can they win consistently without Manny? Would James Loney and Russell Martin start picking up the pace? Well, they did!. James Loney hit two homeruns in Philadelphia. Russell started hitting better. Casey Blake hit  his 7th home run. Not bad for a guy hitting 8!   Wolf “El Lobo” got his win against his old team. Billz has been pitching lights out although Jonathan Broxton could not save the win for him. Jonathan got the cheap win. I wish there was a way for Billz who only allowed 3 hits and 1 run in 7 innings to get the win but those are the rules.

On to Florida to play at ::looks for the new name of the stadium: Land Shark Stadium.  what is that story behind that name? The times for the 3 game series are: Friday 4:10 P.T., Saturday 3: P.T., Sunday 10:10 P.T.

At first I was “why the 3: P.T time? I went back to the Dodgers scheduled and it says

@ FLA

3:10 PM

KCAL

MLB.TV

Broadcast joined in progress

What is up with that?????????

Well, I learned that Saturday afternoons have been FOX’s exclusive territory for years – there’s a national blackout between the hours of 1pm and 4pm western time.  If any team wanted to start a game in the blackout period, they’d be unable to broadcast the game until the blackout ended

So Saturday we start watching the game in what?  the 4th inning?   Oh and the reason for the early start?   A concert of some sort. Thanks a lot Marlins.

.

In the meantime.. Good luck Dodgers!  Good Luck Stults!
